It is important to have first established a regular Asana practice before embarking on using Yoga Asana remedially. These sequences should only be practiced by experienced Iyengar Yoga practitioners and under the guidance of a Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher.

Before using these tools you should have been taught the basics of beginning Pranayama from a Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher. The incorrect practice of Pranayama can cause neurological discomfort and other problems. It is important to have practiced Asana for some time before practicing Pranayama and to be grounded in the practices of Yama and Niyama. See the Eight Limbs of Yoga for reference.
