CIYT 4000 Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher
C-IAYT Certified Yoga Therapist
paul has been studying and practicing Yoga since 1990 and teaching since 1999. His approach is welcoming to all levels of ability and all body types. His goal as a teacher is to help the student bring healing, health, and personal growth to their life through yoga. paul has completed a teacher-training course with Julie Lawrence, a two-year, 500 hour, teacher-training program at the Iyengar Yoga Institute of San Francisco. paul is a certified Iyengar Yoga teacher and is currently training for higher levels of certification with Senior Iyengar Yoga teachers’ Chris Saudek, Rebecca Lerner, and Felicity Green. paul is the owner and director of Rushing Water Yoga. paul is a firm believer in the universality of yoga. He always strives to meet the students where they are and encourages them to practice appropriately. While paul is well versed in the Iyengar tradition for him it’s not about dogma, rigidity or being strict. It’s about practicing appropriately and having fun while you’re doing it. It is about learning how to make the practice suit the student through creative innovation and cooperation (and maybe a few props!). He makes a concerted effort to interlace the philosophy into his teachings to help encourage the students to take this work off of the mat. He is funny and knows how to have fun in class. Please don’t mistake him for someone super serious or extreme about the practices of yoga. As Birjoo Mehta said in the Iyenger Yoga Convention in 2012, yoga is the ice cream, yoga is the dessert after you have met your responsibilities to those you are in community with. paul helps students to discover this dessert while maintaining a full life that includes the gifts of yoga. paul loves the art of sequencing and is clear in his instructions, inspirational, loving, compassionate and dynamic in his teaching.
