Class Descriptions.

Yoga is a life-long practice and the benefits are many. The classes at Rushing Water Yoga are

organized to build upon a student’s own abilities and natural progression based on your own

experience.  The classes naturally build upon each other.  We encourage you to decide when

you are ready to proceed to another level but know that the gift of yoga does not require you

to always move towards a higher level.  Work at your own pace and ask your teacher if you

have any questions about proceeding to another level.

Basic Guidelines When Attending Classes.

Be gentle with yourself.

Remember to always breathe.

Take care of yourself by staying within your limits and not pushing yourself.

Never let there be pain in the lower back or knees.

Trust your intuition; always come out of a pose if it is not working for you.

If anything is ever not clear, please ask for clarification.

Please let your teacher know of any physical limitations you may have.

Appropriate for all beginning students. The focus is on the fundamentals of alignment through

stretching and strengthening to achieve balance.  Special attention is given to the standing

of the exploration of the standing poses.  Beginning inversions, back arches, forward bends and

of the room.

For students who have taken intermediate classes for at least one year.   You should be able to

do headstand (at the wall), full arm balance (hand stand) against the wall, shoulder stand, and

back bends from the floor. In addition to exploring familiar poses, variations of the inversions as

well as more challenging back bends and twists will be explored.

Gentle.

The gentle class is for students who want a slow paced class that is less rigorous. The focus is

on increasing mobility, flexibility, and strength while improving physical and mental capacities.

This offering is perfect for seniors.

Prenatal.

This class helps a woman prepare for labor and birth through postures that encourage the

development of a strong, supple body and through breathing deeply and relaxing completely.
